Summary

What you'll do

  • Advise, draft, and negotiate privacy provisions and manage customer questions
  • Lead contract negotiations with customers and other third parties to secure favorable terms and conditions for Okta using existing legal resources, playbook and leveraging prior knowledge and experience
  • Provide legal guidance and support to internal stakeholders on contractual matters
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including other colleagues in sales, legal, and security to ensure alignment on contract terms and mitigate legal risks
  • Stay informed of relevant privacy laws, regulations, and industry standards
  • Support the development and maintenance of contract templates, playbooks, and other resources to streamline the contract negotiation process and ensure consistency and compliance
  • Assist in the development and implementation of contract management policies and procedures to improve efficiency and effectiveness

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Law, Business Administration, or related field; Juris Doctor (JD) degree would be a benefit, but not required
  • Minimum of 4+ years of experience in contract negotiation and drafting, preferably in a corporate legal department or law firm
  • Strong understanding of SaaS contracts and relevant privacy and security regulations and the ability to apply them in a business context
  • Proven track record of successfully negotiating complex contracts on a sales cycle with corporate customers and other third parties
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to articulate legal concepts confidently, clearly and concisely including to customer attorneys and other senior contracting professionals
  • Exceptional interpersonal and negotiation skills, with the ability to build rapport and influence stakeholders at all levels of the organization
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced, dynamic environment
  • Detail-oriented with strong organizational and time management skills
  • Proficiency in Google Apps, Microsoft Office Suite and contract management software
