In addition, you will provide technical advice and support to the cross-departmental research projects by implementing and developing algorithms and software for scientific data analysis, image analysis, and machine learning.

MPINB has also modernized its data storage with two mid-size storage units for the purpose of facilitating the use and retention of scientific data and your facility will assist scientists to effectively use this resource and offer courses and training for further education of scientists, students, and employees.

We expect from you:

  • PhD or Master’s degree with relevant experience in an appropriate discipline (physics, math, chemistry, biology, bioinformatics, computer science, etc.)
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills in English, a working knowledge of German would be helpful
  • Experience in HPC environments, cluster management, enterprise storage, and developing related algorithms
  • Practical experience successfully running a project and leading a team
  • Hands-on experience developing in a scientific environment / context with R, Python, and/or MATLAB would be an asset

We are offering an international and collaborative environment in a stimulating scientific institute, with a salary commensurate with the work, in line with the Collective Agreement for the Public Service. Furthermore, we have outstanding employee benefits, a family-friendly culture, and flexible working hours; and of course we offer opportunities for further training / continuing education. The position may also be filled on a part-time basis, provided that job sharing ensures that duties can be performed in scope of a full-time job.

The Max Planck Society is committed to promoting equal opportunities and diversity. We welcome applications from all backgrounds, regardless of gender, ethnicity, disability, or sexual orientation. This call will be open until the position is filled.
